Just a few observations on the GTP 1350. I have only been using the 1350 for about a week or so. The first thing I noticed for some reason I will pick this detector over others to swing. I love the balance and the weight is not noticeable for me. I love to swing this detector! This is pretty much a turn on and go detector. The menu is very easy to scroll thru and activating various operating features is a breeze. The 1350 has several preset modes that can be altered if desired.

The 1350 has auto ground balancing and tracking that is performed by the DSP circuitry. Of course the unit has SMT which provides a much more stable platform than thru hole. I'm not sure if I like the idea of not being able to manually adjust the ground balancing circuit but so far I don't have any falsing. Time will tell and here in West Texas we have no mineralization except for a lot of iron in this old dry dusty dirt.

The Graphic Target Profiling is certainly a different kind of detecting. I did a quick test to see what results I would get. I put a .25, .10, .05, .01 Zinc, .01 copper coin just under the surface of the soil. First I put them face up and turned on the GTP mode. I was in the open or all metal mode also. Garrett recommends when profiling to swing the coil about 7" to either side of the target. All of the coins seemed to fit their profile except for the .25 and .01 copper. they were a bit erratic. I believe the iron was giving it a problem at times. I put them on edge next and the GTP worked better than I expected. I was surprised by this. So one needs to be sure and keep that wide swath when swinging the coil over your target. I had a little trouble getting the nickel to ID properly.

Pimpointing is a breeze and not a problem to me. But if you run into trouble just move the coil off to one side of the target and set it on the ground and push PP again and just slide the coil over the target watching for maximum signal strength on the digital indicator and the loudest audio.

Ok depth is an unkown right now and this will be under further testing. At this time I'm not too sure if this is a very deep seeking machine. Depth is a very relative thing but I feel confident about getting deep when I pick up my Minelab Musky or Xterra 70. So we will see. It is rather difficult to find good places to detect out in sparsely populated West Texas and all of the land is privately owned. I am working an older school but so far no silver, only Wheaties and clad. I think someone has already worked this one years ago. None of the pennies have been very deep yet.

I must say that the GTP1350 is a surprise to me and I enjoy using it. As far as the target profiling I personally can do without it. I hunt in the open or all metal mode all of the time. The tones are a little close together and the door bell high tone isn't really for me. It just doesn't seem to lend itself to a smooth transition from the medium tone to the door bell tone. The background threshold is very nice and is adjustable. The depth indicator for coins is pretty accurate.

So if you are looking for a mid priced unit with a lot of features the GTP 1350 might be the thing for you. Again I love the feel of this instrument and it is a pleasure to use. I hope this info will be helpful to some. I wish you all happy hunting and God Bless.
