My husband started detecting last Sept. while recovering from shoulder surgery, employing me as his digger since he only had the use of one arm. We've pretty much stuck to just the beaches (Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay areas) and school yards/playgrounds (Silicon Valley area) for now, which I enjoy because the digging is pretty easy.
Now that he's capable of doing his own digging, I'd like to try detecting with my own detector. I'm pretty sure he will opt to upgrade his detector and give me his rather than just purchase a cheaper one for me to piddle around with when we're out. Either way, I can't wait to find my own treasures.
Our best find to date was a 14k white gold diamond ring, which kind of spoiled us because we found it on one of our first outings! We are current members of the Treasure Hunters Society of Santa Clara Valley.
