Hello All

I know some of you are treasure hunters that are also avid coin collectors. I was just curious what you thought was the most popular or collectible coin to collect. I'm not asking what people like to find, but what is the most popular coin to collect, so these coins can be purchased, etc.

Well, I'm a coin collector and used to frequent the local monthly coin club and show. There are many people who start out with collecting US mint sets and Silver Eagles. The Silver Eagles are the number one collectible for the new people who are shopping single coins.
They soon figure out what's what and many will start collecting one or two coin types depending on their level of commitment and $.

Morgan Dollars #1 most popular older era coin and peace dollars are also very popular.
The Morgan dollars can be as little as the melt weight to several hundreds or even thousands for Carson City mint marks that are graded. You'd be surprised.

Peace Dollars, and most other US silver are extremely popular.
Some people specialize in collecting one particular type of US Silver.
Cap and Bust dollars, Walking Liberty Quarters, Seated Dimes, V Nickles etc.
All civil war era coins will fetch a premium. Even if found in a hole.

Be careful on ebay, there are fakes, mis-graded garbage and ripoff artists out there. Its easy to get burned from these guys who like to photoshop their pics.
