I wish I can get Wheats at this point. I am getting so fustrated MD my local park it just so trashy. Im trying to be optimistic I wont give up but it just so darn dissapointing. I dont know if its just a poor site, me or my Detector.
Hell even clad more often would be welcome. I went for a deep iffy target since I got semi repeatable hits in silver range. I dug into a pile of old rusty nails like 8 to 10 in the same hole. I was still hoping for a nice find being masked by the iron but nothing.
I may need a break from this park, you cant swing the coil without getting several trash targets on every swing!

Sounds like you're running with Conductive vs Ferrous. I had way too many false signals with Conductive... lots of nails.
On the park.. parks are hard, that's a given. Tons of trash, and other detectors have scoured the place in the past. I would try to go 'private'. That's where the good stuff is. I usually find a old house with a not-so-great-lookin lawn and knock on the door and see if you can get permission. If you get this, you get great access to front and backyards as well as broadways. Most of my great finds have been on private property. It's great when you can increase your probability... that might help you get out of your slump.

I am running Ferrous. No doubt about the park being hard maybe too hard for a newbie with a unit like the SE. I will continue to hunt the park when I dont have a better place.
So far little luck getting permission on the private areas but still more to try.
Thanks

Went to the local school that goes way back to the town early days. I had more fun this time did not get anything old yet but did dig up more clad and less trash.
Alot more enjoyable.

This is where you want to be. I would work on the front of the school vs the back.. grid off an area.. use the bigger coil first, then work it hard with the small coil. I personally have lots more luck in the front of schools vs the back. I think people obviously think of the kids playing in the fields, etc... so it gets worked hard. I think of it the other way. I look at all the kids waiting for buses and rides in the front. Plus, detectorist don't like to be seen.. and the front of the school has more exposure to the street.
In hunted out areas, I always seem to do the best in areas that highly exposed to traffic. Now a days you have to think outside of the box.. and not how everyone is thinking to get finds in worked out places.
Good luck.. and keep us posted!!!

I found another school not being used anymore not sure when it closed down but it has been a school site since 1880. I did hunt for a couple of hours at this new site but it is heavily infested with iron, nails etc. Every swing is null or gives high silver iffy signals but I verified that its doing that off edge of iron, Dug a few holes that made me want to look but always nails.
This one is gonna be tough and frustrating. I went for a shallow signal that I felt I knew was going to be a pull tab, but it turned out to be a child's silver ring. It is very beat up no stones and bent up. Funny a small ring 07,24 and a pull tab is also 07,24 makes you want to dug it all but it can be impossible is such trasy area.
Other than that just iron every inch of the place.
