I was wondering how close you fellows are to Billings, Montana? Also any areas of expertise that you folks specialize in. I see google earth and this is one item i want to learn more about. I get to Wyoming once in a while, area of Basin. Later :)

Hello, we're on the other side of the state! About 6-8 hours away from Billings. I myself specialiaze in coin and relic hunting. I like to search old mining and lumber camps for goods. Lately been researching various ferry landings and some trains settlements.
We do use GoogleMaps/GoogleEarth, but are still learning how to really use it to our advantage. This Spring I plan to purchase a GPS unit of some type.. and hopefully, will be able to combine the two. That seems to be a new direction a few MDers are going.
I also dabble in Prospecting. I have a Fisher Gold Bug II, but have had pretty poor luck with it. I don't go out nearly enough with it. I seem to find all of my gold with a pan and sluice. I would like to improve that this year.
Wyoming sounds like a cool place to MD. I've seen some amazing finds come out of that state.

Thanks for the reply, i was interested in the google earth as an addition to the Ghost Towns of America section. Also i am interested in panning, but have never done so. Hopefully you folks can teach me something about some of this stuff. My only limitation is my time is so taken up with the Ghost Town section. If your group wants any info i have, feel free to request it in the big thread over at Treasure Quest. I will gladly post it for them. Later
