I've never found a gold nugget via detector. I've gone out probably 10 times or so times. This year, I'd love to pull a nugget (any size) out via detector. I'd like to make that as a goal.

I mainly hunted old dredge tailings in my area. I've read multiple times that the tops of the tailing piles is where you want to be. I've found very small bullet fragements and tiny pieces of metal that I've found panning out my signal dirt.. so I think I'm picking up the small metal.. just not sweeping the coil over the gold.. yet.

Any suggestions or tips??

when we were selling our jew. at quartzsite,ar. i talked to a lot of people md for gold, some told me thay hunted for several weeks before thay found any .thay would work slow and over lap their swings. thay would find hob nails and a lot of lead from early miners.i dont know where your at but i would hunt the tailing piles from the early hand miners dry washing. a lot of gold in ar. found there. when thay did find gold , thay would work the surface off then rake the area down a few in. go over it again . your finding the right kind of junk.with good work ethic and persistance you know if you pass over gold or coin you will find it. good hunting;:)
