Creating a coin = digital reading list.

Not having the SE yet I wanted to know if creating a list of digital readings for known objects ie: coins, will help or not. Or if its not necessary at all.

For example:

Wheat cent = FerrXX ContXX
Silver Dime = FerrXX ContXX
Walking Lib = FerrXX ContXX

Im sure readings maybe +/- a couple, but will this be useful or does the digital range varies too much for the same coin for this to be of any use?
