A couple of keepers today

Went to my favorite hunting spot. It's full of 'top' coins, so today's strategy was to dig all coin targets to see if I can get a view to the deep stuff. I was able to pull a couple of keepers after digging 49 clad (I hate digging the new stuff).

No date buffalo nickel.. which was insanely deep. Normally I'd find Indian Heads and V-Nickels this deep. Couldn't believe that the Buffalo was so worn at that depth.

Found a 1911 D Wheat at 8" deep.. which is crazy deep for this area too.

Nice! Well if your finding that much clad wont be long before you can buy a new toy for the SE. Im sure it will add up fast. I rather have clad than all the junk Im digging up. 2 more days until the new SE :D

Very true. I have to look at the silver lining of clad. Today I'm going to try to hit some private lawns. Hopefully they'll be a few oldies under the ground. I want to get my 'firsts of the year' filled up.

Still need first barber of 2007 and first 'V' nickle. I like to at least find my 'core' coins every year

- at least one barber (any amount)
- at least one indian head
- at least one buffalo
- at least one v-nickle
- at least one mercury

Since the thaw, I've been knocking my list down. Added a surprise Standing Libery Quarter the other day too!

I'm psyched on your SE purchase.. I think you'll do great. You have the proper mindset. You know the machine is complicated and there is a lot to take in. Just try not to get frustrated... and the finds will come.

Did you buy a X-1 probe with it?

No a bit too much right now. I did get the 5" EXcelerator Searchcoil that will come with the SE, after that Im busted for a while. I got a Vibraprob 560 that I just got last month and not used yet, so I want to get some use out of it. If I known at the time about the X-1 I would have held back on the 560.

The next items Im thinking about are a lower & upper shafts for the 5" and then another set of shafts with an 8" coil. After that I will consider the X-1. Maybe go with the X-1 sooner then there wont be a need for the extra shafts if Im thinking correctly.
