You have seen this at the beach, everyone watches you from afar, untill you start digging a hole and pull out something shinny and now the whole beach people is around you woundering what you have discovered. And their goes your afternoon whith followers being your shadow, its like forrest gump when he starts jogging:cool:

I agree with you as i go very early or late in the evening, that way i can get to where everyone was or is going to be, all you have are the joggers in the morning, so i get my work out a little differently

On a recent trip to Florida, I was detecting Ft. Myers Beach and, after about 30 minutes, I turned around to see about 20 little kids behind me following me. I had my headphones on and couldn't hear them giggling and talking but as soon as I said "hi" to one of them... they were all over me like mosquitoes. "Whatcha doing?" "What have you found?" "Can I help dig too?"
Considering that I was digging mostly fish hooks and other sharp, rusty, pointed objects (at one point I found a 12" long piece of barbed wire fence), it made me pretty nervous having these little kids digging in the sand right next to me.
I think that, if parents knew about all of the junk just 2" under their little kiddos feet at the beach, they'd think twice about letting them go there in the water without beach shoes of some sort!

I totally agree! We hunt the beach quite frequently and I can't tell you how many nails, screws, and other sharp pieces of metal we pull out of the sand. I nod my head everytime thinking back on how I always used to take my shoes off as soon as me and the kids hit the sand.
I don't mind people coming up and asking about what we're doing, but I don't care for it when they stand there and watch me dig to see what I've found. I typically will remember where the target is and go about my business as though I'm not getting any signals, they soon lose interest and disappear. :D

I use the same technique while in parks, etc. That drives me nuts when people follow me.
Thanks!
