Today a hunting partner and myself drove an hour and half to a very old town in my state. We got permission to hunt a private lawn there. This town has always skunked me, so was looking for an opportunity to finally pull something from here.
Short story long.. I got skunked.. again. This town hates me... or we just don't get along.
On the way back with tails between our legs, we decided to hit a small town which has nice old school there. Talked to the grounds keeper and found that the school was built in 1934. He also mentioned that is hunted often.
After a few hours, I walked away with a two keepers.. 1944 Wheat and a 1943 S Jefferson. This is my first war nickel.. so I was quite pleased with that fact. Nice that the SE was able to sniff out another nickel.
You definitely can tell that the area is pretty clean. Not many targets past 3" anywhere.
Overall, it was a beautiful day, and it was nice to get out of town!
Thanks!
